Danny Forster's Cool, Green House Completed
Now that construction is complete, Danny Forster, the host of Discovery Channel's show, Build It Bigger, walks us through his first solo architectural project--an exciting, innovative green home in Omena, just north of Traverse City on the shores of Lake Michigan.
Forster’s passion for architecture and innovation propels you through this house as he explains the technologies, techniques and materials that help him achieve his goal of designing a home like no other and attain the highest LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rating possible. The home is designed to fit into the unique Northern Michigan landscape of cherry orchards and Lake Michigan shoreline, using passive climate control elements like windows that channel prevailing winds and a plant-covered roof that even makes the solar panels more efficient.
